Today we’d like to introduce you to Sal Ramazzini and Sasha Chemerov.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sal and Sasha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We moved to Los Angeles in 2012 – Sasha moved from Ukraine and I moved from Guatemala. We both wanted to make music but we didn’t cross paths until the end of 2014 at a recording studio in Burbank that both of our bands just happened to be using at the time.
Our first release as a band was in February of 2015 for our EP titled ‘Garland’. That’s when we started playing as The Gitas. In 2015, we did a small tour of the West Coast and moved on to record a full-length album, ‘Beverly Kills’. We had some difficulties making the record with our co-producer and this caused tension within the band, so much so, that it forced us to have to kick out our drummer in 2016.
We spent almost all of 2017 without a drummer and searched all of Los Angeles for the perfect fit- playing different local shows with fill-in drummers. We decided not having a permanent drummer wouldn’t hold us back, and we spent three months touring in Ukraine- playing festivals and headlining shows for thousands of fans.
Upon our return to Los Angeles, we found the perfect fit for The Gitas, Bruno Ragolia, who has been with the band since 2018. With Bruno, we toured Ukraine and Guatemala the following summer, headlining festivals and doing more solo headline shows.

Now, back in Los Angeles, we have deleted all of our music from all streaming platforms. We feel like what we had online was not an accurate representation of our sound and because of this, we decided to ‘purge’ all the songs and reincarnate them. In essence, it’s as if we’re restarting the band and we’re heading into the studio in mid-May in Los Angeles and then June in Pittsburgh to record our new album in collaboration with Trackster and producer, David Hillis.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road was definitely not smooth. The first big struggle was when our album producer held our album hostage for six months and then tried to screw us over with contracts. Once we finally got the album, it didn’t sound how we wanted it to.
All the offers we got from record labels were not legitimate, and more or less them just wanting to take as much money from us as possible.
We fired our drummer and spent an entire year auditioning new ones until we found the perfect fit.
There were a lot of struggles, but in the end, they turned out to be blessings in disguise because we are now working with a legitimate producer, record label and have a whole team that is dedicated and has the same vision and goals to make shit happen.
The Gitas – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Gitas are a rock band. We specialize in modern grunge and we are the best fucking rock show alive. Come to our show and become a believer. What separates us from others is that we’re not a slaved band- no one owns us. We own everything and are not label made. We are a music group with members from different parts of the world, backgrounds, and influences. Our live performance is what really makes us different from any other act because of the raw energy and realness and the fact that we feel the music that we’re performing. Sasha’s roaring vocals and powerful guitars; Bruno’s hard-hitting, thunder smashing drums and a dancing monkey are some of the elements that make us different.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Sal: Success is being happy. Being true to who you are are and your morals. Being honest, reliable. As far as music goes, I think it’s the same principles- playing music that you like with people that you like.
